Senior Partner - Herzog & de Meuron
Andreas Fries is Senior Partner at Herzog & de Meuron. He has directed numerous local and international projects of various types, including Stadtcasino, Helvetia Campus and Asklepios 8 in Basel; Titlis 3020 in Engelberg; Vitra Schaudepot in Weil am Rhein, Germany; Feltrinelli Porta Volta and Museo della Resistenza in Milan, Italy; Mandarin Oriental Palazzo Cristallo in Cortina d'Ampezzo and Mandarin Oriental Lago di Como in Blevio, Italy; Grand Canal Museum in Hangzhou, China; Iglesia El Punto in Ciudad Juarez and Monterrey House in Monterrey, Mexico. He also actively participated in the design of the Bélair-Monange winery in Saint-Émilion, France and the SongEun Art Space in Seoul, South Korea. In addition to his design work, Andreas is a member of Herzog & de Meuron's Strategic Council.
Andreas is a member of the Federation of Swiss Architects BSA/FSA. Due to his experience working with historic buildings, he was appointed to the Council for Historic Buildings and Monuments in Basel in 2021. He is a member of the Foundation Board of the Foundation for Art and Design in Basel and of the Advisory Board of the Canova ETS Foundation in Montecrestese. Andreas has been teaching at the YAC Academy in Bologna since 2021.
Andreas graduated from ETH with a Master's degree in Architecture in 2002, with exchanges at EPFL Lausanne and the Milan Polytechnic in Italy.
