With a distinguished career spanning more than 37 years and a portfolio that boasts more than 420 prestigious projects, predominantly 5-star hotels, Tarek Hegazy is a visionary leader in the world of interior design. He joined Living Design in 1999 and has continued to grow professionally, assuming the role of CEO and creative director since 2006.
Under Tarek's astute leadership, Living Design, Scandinavia's oldest interior design company (founded in Sweden in 1984 and celebrating its 40th anniversary in 2024), has established its reputation as one of the leading studios in Europe and Scandinavia. With more than 420 successfully completed hotel projects to date, the company has won more than 120 awards for its hospitality, luxury residential and commercial projects, consistently ranking among the top in the industry.
Tarek's global role has been instrumental in fostering strong partnerships with all key stakeholders in the industry, from customers, investors and operators to his team of dedicated professionals. He consistently ensures that the facilities he creates enhance comfort and ease of use, providing exceptional environments across four continents for some of the most prestigious hotel brands in Europe, the Middle East and the United States.
Prior to his tenure at Living Design, Mr. Hegazy held senior positions at several major companies, all of which are recognised as among the world's top 10 in architecture and design.
Living Design is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with offices in Zurich and Geneva, Switzerland, and a liaison office in Cairo. The company continues to explore strategic expansion opportunities in the hospitality and tourism markets.
Mr Hegazy is a distinguished member of several prestigious professional organisations, including the Association of Swedish Architects, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the International Interior Designers Association (IIDA) and NEWH The Hospitality Network.
A much sought-after speaker, Mr Hegazy regularly lectures on interior design and future trends in the industry at prestigious institutions such as the AIA, the China Institute of Architects, the United Nations Environment Summit and various governmental bodies and investment conferences around the world. His insights are often published in respected journals and he has received numerous design awards, cementing his position as a top executive in the hospitality industry.
