Lighting Designer

Marco Petrucci was born in Colleferro (Rome) in 1982. After graduating in Industrial Design from the Faculty of Architecture 'Ludovico Quaroni' at La Sapienza University in Rome (2005), he obtained a 2nd level university Master's degree in 'Light Design and Technology' at the Politecnico di Milano in 2006, an academic course that allowed him to study lighting design in a scientific way.
He gained significant professional experience at the Targetti Sankey company in Florence, where he came into contact with Paolo Targetti and deepened his understanding of the industrial and technological dynamics involved in the development of lighting fixtures. This training phase was decisive in refining his ability to combine technical research and design applications.
This was followed by a steady collaboration with architect Piero Castiglioni, with whom he developed a long experience in designing light as an autonomous material, capable of intertwining with the history and identity of places.
His approach integrates advanced LED technologies, smart control systems (DALI, DMX, KNX, Casambi), and international technical standards (CIE, UNI EN, CEI, ISO, IES), focusing on the perceptive enhancement of spaces. His research focuses on the balance between energy efficiency, visual comfort and environmental sustainability, with projects developed in contexts of high historical, artistic and landscape value.
Over the years, he has participated in the realisation of projects in Italy, Europe and Asia, contributing to projects for cathedrals, monumental complexes, private residences, yachts and luxury hotels, always in close collaboration with architect Piero Castiglioni. At the same time, he develops theoretical and popular studies on the culture of light, collaborating with institutions, companies and architecture studios of international relevance.
He is a member of APIL - Associazione Professionisti dell'Illuminazione (Association of Lighting Professionals), an organisation recognised by the Ministry of Economic Development pursuant to Law 4/2013 and Ministerial Decree of 27 September 2017, which guarantees compliance with professionalism and continuous training requirements.
