Founder Creative Director - Concrete Amsterdam
Rob Wagemans' path in architecture and design began with his architectural studies in Utrecht, followed by a master's degree in architecture at the Academie voor Bouwkunst in Amsterdam. Moving smoothly from university to practice, Wagemans founded Concrete, a design studio based in Amsterdam, in 1997. Together with partners Erikjan Vermeulen (head of architecture) and Lisa Hassanzadeh (head of interiors), Rob (creative director) leads Concrete in its mission to pioneer innovative concepts that redefine the boundaries of architecture, interior design, urban planning, branding and conceptual programming. By prioritising people in design, Concrete shapes environments that seamlessly integrate with human life in various sectors, including hospitality, public buildings, social housing and retail. Concrete's 'inside-out' approach puts people first, resulting in innovative solutions that are recognised worldwide.
This approach is evident in several international projects, such as the W Hotels in Osaka, London and Verbier, the Zoku Lofts flats, the 4 ships for Virgin Voyages, the Skypark in Mongkok, Urby living in the United States, The West residences in New York, the BoTree Luxury Hotel in Marylebone and many others.
