PhD in Interior Architecture and Exhibition Design, she is currently a research fellow at the Department of Design - Politecnico di Milano, lecturer and secretary of the Interior Design Course at the School of Design - Politecnico di Milano.
Her research interests lie in interior design, with a focus on hospitality design.
Since her PhD, she has developed research in the field of interior design focusing on the hospitality system such as hotels, hostels, co-living, campsites and new formats, analysing the transformation of the sector in relation to new spatial behaviours and transformations, such as hybridisation and cross-fertilisation processes.
Recently, she has focused on the relationship between space design and environmental, economic and social sustainability, considering customised interiors, contract projects, and furniture systems (funded research project, 2022-2024). Her latest research interests are in sustainable tourism with a focus on regenerative product-service systems.
Since 2010, she has been researching, teaching and consulting in the field of hospitality at national and international schools and vocational training institutions. Elena is author of publications and member of international networks (NEWH), juries and scientific committees.
